Step Through the Wall

Four prisoners have mysteriously vanished from several investigation isolation facilities in Moscow within a short period of time. The circumstances of their disappearance vary: some went missing during the roll call after a walk, some from the infirmary, and others... after a bathing day. Formally, this is an escape, but – there are no signs of a break-in, no witnesses and no accomplices. The search for the fugitives has been entrusted to Colonel Gurav and Colonel Kryachko from the Ministry of Internal Affairs. They discover that all four inmates were solitary, had no heirs, rented accommodation, meaning that no one was truly waiting for them outside. Moreover, they all received insignificant sentences by court. What could be the reason for such a sudden disappearance?.. The story takes a decisive turn after, under strange circumstances, one of the employees of the Penitentiary Service involved in this case dies…
