"Notes from Underground" by Fyodor Dostoevsky is the confession of a man who has distanced himself from society.

The nameless protagonist is intelligent, ready to debate with his contemporaries and expose the vices of the age, but he is a contradictory and unreliable narrator. Mentally returning to his past youth, he tracks his tragic but inevitable path to social underground.

"Notes from Underground" not only preceded Dostoevsky's "great pentateuch," but also anticipated the ideas of existential philosophy.

The book also includes the story "The Gentle Spirit." It tells the life of a woman who grew up in poverty and was forced to marry a moneylender. It is the internal monologue of the main character, his candid account of life with his wife – The Gentle Spirit. The story explores themes of love, sacrifice, cruelty, and moral dilemmas faced by the characters.

The edition is presented in a classic design by contemporary artist Karma Virtanen.
