June 1894. Having left his position in the Department of Police, Alexei Lykov and his friend Titus travel to Turkestan to sell timber for railway construction. Tashkent – a city on the Great Silk Road – greets travelers with beautiful mosques, bright carpets, and bustling streets. It seemed that nothing could disrupt the usual and measured life of the townspeople. But Tashkent is shaken by a series of bloody and brutal murders.
