Breathing Lessons

The Morans are on their way to the funeral of Maggie's closest friend's husband. During this day on the road, she manages to remember and relive twenty-eight years of her marriage. The Morans have two adult children with not-so-childish problems. Maggie learns that her former daughter-in-law is planning to remarry and take the child away, and she decides to intervene. She wants to gather the pieces of her son's family and raise her granddaughter, but all efforts are in vain: everyone has their own life, which no one wants to compromise. The novel "Breathing Lessons" was awarded the Pulitzer Prize.
