A young doctor, freshly graduated from university, is sent to work in a hospital in the wilderness. There, alone with complex cases, the ignorance of patients, and hard daily labor, he must fight his own fears and doubts. "Notes of a Young Doctor" is a hymn (and at the same time a requiem) to zemstvo medicine, where the hero balances between selflessness and despair.
