Divine Comedy

Dante Alighieri is the great Italian poet, thinker, and author of the famous 'Comedy' (later named 'Divine'). During his years of political exile, at the 'midway upon the journey of our life', Dante created the immortal 'Divine Comedy', the greatest monument of poetic culture and a true encyclopedia of medieval worldview. The author of the poem is depicted as a man who has been granted God's grace to undertake a journey to the Lord through three realms of the afterlife - a journey from the gloomy distress of sin and doubt to the happiness of truth and the bright ideal.
