Cold Aquatory

A novel about wartime, about the complicated fates and dangerous work of unknown heroes who became part of the elite unit of ‘Beria's special forces’.

September 1942. Novorossiysk is captured by the fascists. The city's enterprises have been evacuated. In the port's aquatory, a sample of the latest torpedo has been secretly sunk by Soviet engineers. The Germans, learning of this, began active searches to establish their own production of this powerful weapon. Major Maxim Shelestov’s group is tasked with outpacing the enemy, finding and destroying the torpedo. Fighters sneak into the occupied city, hoping to find the only remaining survivor of the sinking operation. They do not suspect that there is another witness to this secret…

‘This series is good because it carries a true main idea: in the NKVD of Lavrenti Beria, they knew how to believe in people because the People’s Commissar could believe in them himself. The story of Major Shelestov’s group resembles the real story of a major Abwehr agent, former staff-captain of the tsarist army Nelidov, who ended up in Lubyanka in September 1939. The adventures of Maxim Shelestov and his comrades described in this novel seem even more probable against the background of Nelidov's story.’ — S. Kremlin
