John R.R. Tolkien – one of the founding fathers of the fantasy genre, author of the famous trilogy "The Lord of the Rings". The universe of Middle-earth, described by Tolkien in his novels, received a harmonious continuation in the short...
prose and poems included in this collection.
The cycle "Poems from the Red Book" tells about the adventures of Tom Bombadil, a well-known character from "The Hobbit", and also introduces the reader to the magical world of Middle-earth: dwarves, trolls, elves, and other strange creatures – characters from the legends of Old England, whom Tolkien's genius imbues with romantic and comic traits.
Also included in the collection is the wonderful story-fable "Roverandom", written by John R.R. Tolkien for his children in 1925. After the success of "The Hobbit" in 1937, it was prepared for publication, but it was not published until 1998, when the author was no longer alive.
