Beren and Lúthien
Before you is a story of true love and fidelity, courage and bravery.
Beren, a simple mortal, dared to ask the elven king Thingol for his daughter, the beautiful Lúthien, to be his wife. The lord of Doriath set a truly... impossible task before the brave man: to bring him a Silmaril, the most precious creation of Fëanor, the very Stone that the Dark Lord Morgoth set into his crown...
Christopher Tolkien tells of the evolution of the poem "Beren and Lúthien," how the concept of one of the three key episodes, three great plots of the "Silmarillion," developed.
