In the Absence of Authority

In 1913, Alexei Lykov, by the will of fate, finds himself in the city of Smolensk, where he must not only save his friend and colleague - collegiate assessor Azvestopulo - from the punishing sword of justice, but also uncover a secret network of Austrian sabotage bases and declassify Polish spies. The true criminals were behind bars, and Lykov and the freed Azvestopulo were able to join the celebration of the three-hundredth anniversary of the Romanov dynasty and return to their usual service.
