Bunin perceives the revolution as a personal tragedy, horrified by the rampant lawlessness, cruelty, and hunger. Bunin's diary entries, made in Moscow and Odessa from 1918 to 1920, are filled with pain and disappointment over what is happening. The author yearns for the lost Russia, he does not strive for objectivity, but shares his feelings, which makes the book "The Cursed Days" truly valuable.
