Mikhail Afanasyevich Bulgakov lived in a difficult time of change. But neither the regime nor censorship could stop him from creating beautiful witty works that criticized the vices and delusions of Soviet society in the early 20th century.

Professor Preobrazhensky is... a brilliant doctor and scientist working in a country that has drastically changed before his eyes. Through a complicated experiment, he transforms a good old yard dog into a bad new man, whom the reborn Russian society accepts with open arms. But the professor can no longer bear to live under the same roof as this new man, so he makes a highly controversial decision…

The novella "Dog Heart" became a blend of science fiction and sharp satire on a society for which the destruction of the old is far more significant than the creation of the new. And if even the very last dog is ready to join in their destruction, they will issue it a passport and provide all the necessary permits.
