Flesh and Blood of Aymeric

Year 1358. The Grand Inquisitor Nicholas Aymeric travels to southern France, to the city of Castres, where rumors are circulating about strange "masks" - sectarians who want to infect everyone around with the sinister Red Death and drink blood. Additionally,... a highly complicated political situation has developed in Castres, where the interests of several aristocratic families and states are intertwined, and the clergy, judging by the stories, are mired in worldly temptations. When Aymeric arrives on site, he quickly realizes that there are actually far more problems than it seemed at first glance, and he makes a decision that is incredible even for his time. Meanwhile, in America in the second half of the 20th century, that very Red Death turns out to be not a legend, but a nightmarish truth. However, just like in the Middle Ages, it does not appear by chance, but by the will of people blinded by hatred and animosity.
