Zorge, Who We Did Not Know. The Life and Death of a Great Spy in Japan

The book by the famous German writer H.H. Kirst stands out among nearly sixty works dedicated to Richard Sorge.

Based on documentary materials, the author painted a portrait not of a dogmatic communist, not of a super-spy, and not of a heroic martyr as previous portrayals of Sorge suggested, but of a man endowed with the weaknesses and flaws typical of ordinary people.

He certainly did not possess an angelic character, often drank heavily, passionately loved women, and behaved excessively harshly with members of his intelligence group.

But no one can dispute the fact that Ramsay-Zorge was an outstanding personality.
