Attila, the leader of the Huns, was a great military commander. The Hunnic army never had burdensome supply trains, as the ruthless conquerors carried everything they needed for war on horses, while the rest was obtained in battles. Most ancient historians consider Attila a cruel barbarian, who spent his whole life trying to crush the Christian world. However, none of them dares to belittle or downplay his military merits.
