Assassins. The Medieval Order of Secret Killers

A world-renowned scholar, an expert on the history of Islam, the Middle East, and the relationships between Islam and the West, Professor Bernard Lewis of Princeton University traces the history of the radical Islamic sect, the Assassins, who were the first group of people to use assassination as a political weapon. Established in Iran and Syria in the 11th and 12th centuries, they set out to overthrow the existing Sunni order in Islam and replace it with their own, terrorizing their enemies with horrific assassinations of Islamic leaders and some Crusaders, which led to their name and reputation becoming known in Europe.
