Notes of the Commander of the Penal Battalion. Memoirs of a Battalion Commander. 1941—1945

The memoirs of M.I. Suknev are probably the only ones in our military literature written by an officer who commanded a penal battalion.

M.I. Suknev fought on the front lines for more than three years and was wounded several times. Among the few, he was twice awarded the Order of Alexander Nevsky, as well as a number of other combat orders and medals.

The author wrote the book in 2000, at the sunset of his life, with utmost candor. Therefore, his memoirs serve as an extremely valuable testimony about the war of 1941—1945.
