"Devil's Doll" – the first novel of the trilogy conceived by Hippius after the 1905 revolution, intended to reflect its philosophical and political views.
The main character of the novel, a young and charming student Yuri Dvoekurov, also known as Yuruya, lives for his pleasure – attends classes, plays cards, embarks on romances – and has absolutely no concern for tomorrow. Many find his lifestyle incomprehensible, the cynical and selfish behavior of the young man evokes dislike from those around him, but at the same time attracts and fascinates them. "Devil's Doll" – such a nickname Yuri receives. A man without a god, without a future...
The third novel of the trilogy was never completed; this edition includes the first two parts – "Devil's Doll" and "Prince Novel".
