The Second

The near future, a cozy village on the shore of the Azov Sea. As a result of a mysterious Disturbance, everyday life has changed beyond recognition: the regional center is crawling with bandits, and the Don River is filled with... crocodiles that escaped from the local zoo; no mobile phones. But all this does not unsettle the residents of Margaritaovka, enterprising and cheerful retirees who have set their goal to build Paradise on Earth. They have mastered canning, knitting, fishing, and generally try to enjoy the little things. But this is not the idyllic story of Philemon and Bavkida; the heroes will have to face danger, and not everyone will reach the end. In Margaritaovka, there are even sometimes sports competitions (in shooting), but the main thing is that the retirees have learned to resist aggressive urban dwellers (which is not easy). Everything that happens in Margaritaovka is carefully recorded in a diary by Viktor Sergeyevich Petrov, who has the call sign 'The Second'.
The novel 'The Second' is a post-apocalyptic absurdist black comedy, where 'No Country for Old Men' by Cormac McCarthy merges with 'Heavenly Swallows' by Eldar Ryazanov.
