Ural Tales and Legends

Ural legends and tales became widely known thanks to the "secret tales" of Pavel Bazhov, based on the folklore of miners and gold diggers (much of which is the product of the great storyteller's imagination).

But the Ural land also gave... birth to other mysterious traditions: legends of the mighty Ural taiga and tales related to the Ural Mountains, stories of the boundless steppes of Priuralye, historical folklore. They were collected by many celebrated writers: philologist and folklorist Vladimir Dahl, creator of the saga "Gloomy River" Vyacheslav Shishkov, writer and traveler Vasily Nemirovich-Danchenko, author of "Gray Neck" and "Alenushka's Tales" Dmitry Mamin-Sibiryak, as well as other singers of the treasures of the Ural land.

Our collection of Ural tales, myths, and legends, which will be an excellent addition to the "Malachite Box," is illustrated with masterpieces by famous Russian artists: Apollinary Vasnetsov, Mikhail Nesterov, Pyotr Vereshchagin, and others.
