Vandals - a Germanic people, at a turning point in history their name became synonymous with destruction. They captured and plundered two ancient cities with truly symbolic names - Rome and Carthage, the name of the Vandals has been glorified... through the ages as a synonym for senseless destruction. They came from Scandinavia, lived in Silesia, Southern Germany, Burgundy, Spain, and Africa. This people shook the ancient world and brought the Roman Empire to the brink of destruction, but were themselves destroyed by it. One thing, however, is undoubtedly clear: the ancient barbarians had a clear distinction from the barbarians of today, as they were not at all impervious to the achievements of Greco-Roman culture and civilization.
