Martin Eden

The main novel by Jack London, "Martin Eden", was written over a century ago, but it still retains its relevance and continues to stir the hearts of readers. This novel contains a great deal: a story of true love, a story of the formation of a creative personality, a story of struggle against society and ultimately the victory of the creator. A victory that comes at a terrible price. "Martin Eden" possesses a special depth and tragedy - the author poured much of his own experiences into it. Like his hero, Jack London faced rejections from publishers and found himself deceived and rejected more than once. He starved while giving all his strength to art and earned money through hard labor at sea and in a steam laundry. He went against all odds and finally gained fame and recognition. The illustrations by the St. Petersburg artist Nikolai Lavrukhin are created in the best traditions of realistic drawing and add additional depth and authenticity to the text.
