Scarlet Sails

The great romantic Alexander Grin wrote "Scarlet Sails" – a wonderful romantic story about the love of Captain Gray and the beautiful girl Assol – during the tumultuous revolutionary times of the early 20th century. He created many other remarkable... works, but it is "Scarlet Sails" that inspires films, ballets, dramatic performances, musicals, and rock operas, as well as poems and songs. Even the graduation celebration in St. Petersburg is called "Scarlet Sails." Andrey Arinushkin is a well-known and beloved artist in the West. In Paris, where he moved from Minsk in 1999, they call him the "little Belarusian genius." However, the French are mistaken: Andrey is "big" in age, height, and, most importantly, in talent. The delicacy and mobility of his watercolors create a sense of an image coming to life. "Scarlet Sails" is the artist's first experience in illustrating Russian classics.
