Shock of the Future

Alvin Toffler (1928-2016) – American philosopher, sociologist, and futurist, one of the creators of the concept of post-industrial society, author of revolutionary works "The Metamorphosis of Power", "Shock of the Future", "Revolutionary Wealth", "The Third Wave". In his work "Shock of the Future", Toffler introduces the eponymous term, defining it as the psychological state of both individuals and entire communities. According to him, all societies in the post-industrial era will be subject to the shock of the future – the problem of personal perception of "too many changes in too short a time span".
