Distant Land. First Discovery

Nikolai Pavlovich Zadornov (1909—1992) — a famous writer, author of novels depicting the exploration of Siberia and the Far East by Russian  pioneers. A special place in the works of N. P. Zadornov is occupied by the cycle of works... about the outstanding navigator Captain G. I. Nevelskoy (1813—1876), the leader of the Amur expedition, which contributed to the strengthening of Russia in the Pacific Ocean. This edition includes the first two novels of this cycle.

The novel «Distant Land» serves as a kind of prehistory of the exploration of the Far East by Russian land explorers. It is an exciting tale of the harsh life of the peoples of the Amur region before the arrival of Russian settlers.
The novel «First Discovery» narrates the first expedition of Captain Nevelskoy at the mouth of the Amur. The story of the adventures of brave travelers is combined with accurate depictions of life in the harsh territories of the lower Amur and the adjacent coastal areas.
