"The Fifteen-Year-Old Captain" (1878) is a classic adventure novel by the great French writer and popularizer of science Jules Gabriel Verne (1828-1905). As a result of dramatic events, the fifteen-year-old sailor Dick Sand becomes the captain of the whaling schooner... "Pilgrim". The noble, courageous, and freedom-loving heroes of the novel experience thrilling and dangerous adventures in the ocean and on land - in Tropical Africa, where they are led by the betrayal of the ship's cook Negoro. The book includes an article by the famous literary scholar Z.M. Potapova. The edition is illustrated with engravings based on the drawings of the outstanding French artist Henri Meyer (1844-1899) from the Paris edition of 1878.
