The novellas by L. N. Tolstoy "Childhood", "Adolescence", "Youth" (1852-1864) are among the most significant works of Russian literature dedicated to the theme of maturation. This is a peculiar trilogy in which autobiographical elements are intertwined with the presentation of... moral and social issues. Separate episodes of the main character, Nikolai Irténiev's life - childhood games, the first hunt and first love, the death of his mother, relationships with friends, balls, and studies - form the story of personality formation. The main goal of the writer is the exploration of the inner world of man, the search for the meaning of life, moral ideals, and hidden patterns of existence. The illustrations were created in the 1970s by the famous Moscow graphic artist Boris Diodorov for the edition of the novellas in Spanish and have never been reproduced in Russia along with the original text by Tolstoy.
