Pythagoras of Samos (c. 570 - c. 490 BC) was an ancient Greek philosopher, mathematician, and founder of the religious-philosophical school of Pythagoreans. He preached metempsychosis (the doctrine of the transmigration of souls), vegetarianism, and the harmony of the spheres.... The teachings of Pythagoras became the foundation for discoveries in mathematics, astrology, and music theory. He was a student of Pherecydes, Thales, Anaximander, and Anaximenes. In the book "Golden Laws and Moral Sufferings," contemporary philosopher Alexander Markov reconstructs the life and scientific achievements of the ancient Greek philosopher Pythagoras.
