Star of KEC

«Star of KEC» — a novel by Alexander Belyaev (1884–1942), one of the first works in Soviet science fiction dedicated to the exploration of space. A young biologist, Leonid Artemyev from Leningrad, sets off to Pamir and then directly into space. There he finds himself on the Star of KEC — this is the second artificial satellite of Earth, named after the founder of astronautics, K.E. Tsiolkovsky. Here, scientists grow enormous fruits and vegetables using solar energy, create hybrid animals that understand human speech, and even set off to explore the far side of the Moon. Filled with the spirit of progress and adventure, the book invites the reader to contemplate a future where the boundaries of the possible expand with each new discovery.
