The thirty-year-old landowner Grigory Litvinov spends time at a resort in Baden-Baden, waiting for the arrival of his fiancée. Among the passions and disputes of the local intelligentsia, the hero is bored, but a sudden encounter with the love of his early youth - Irina Ratmirova - turns the young man's life upside down. Litvinov rushes to meet the strong, passionate feeling, but he does not yet know what consequences follow... "Smoke" is the fifth novel by the great classic Ivan Turgenev (1818–1883). One of the most witty and psychological books of the writer, in which he carefully examines the sharp and pressing themes of that time.
