"Walden, or Life in the Woods" — one of the most popular books by American author Henry David Thoreau, first published in 1854 and became a classic in the history of world literature and the most quoted book among travelers. In this autobiographical book, author Henry Thoreau describes in detail his experience of living in solitude on the shore of Walden Pond in the forests of Massachusetts, where he went for a few years. He built a cabin and spent two years, two months, and two days there, completely renouncing the achievements of civilization.
