Lady Virginia's lawyer, Mr. Punch, sends her a distressed letter: the castle renovation is on hold due to "mystical reasons". The workers hear strange noises, and some even go mad from the terror they have experienced… In the nearest village,... it is said that disturbed spirits are to blame. But has a true lady ever been frightened by third-rate mysticism? And so, fearless Virginia, accompanied by her household, sets off to her ancestral castle to see with her own eyes that there are no disturbed spirits in sight. Accompanying her is Detective Ellis, who has his own reasons for leaving Bromley for a while. But what is this?.. An illegal passenger on the train? An old acquaintance or?..
