Politics of Nature. How to Instill Democracy in the Sciences

In the book by French philosopher and sociologist Bruno Latour, an original project of "experimental metaphysics" is developed. Its main goal is to formulate a new concept of political ecology that would allow for the combination of scientific practices with... the democratic decision-making process, which requires a simultaneous revision of three fundamental concepts for Western philosophy: logos, physis, and polis. Drawing on developments in the sociology of science, comparative anthropology, political philosophy, as well as a fundamentally new understanding of the practices of ecological movements, Latour proposes a program for building a "common world" in which non-human actors participate equally with humans.
