The Way of the Conquistadors

The book includes not only the well-known poems of Nikolai Gumilev (1886–1921) but also poems from his early collections, in particular, "The Ways of the Conquistadors," in which recognizable notes of the author's voice already resonate. Gumilev's poetry is full of vivid images inspired by travels, adventures, and a thirst for discovery. The spirit of wanderlust, a longing for the unknown, and a fearless quest for knowledge in all its manifestations can be felt in the verses. The courage with which a person overcomes difficulties and the curiosity that drives them toward dangers is one of the main themes of Gumilev's poetry.
