The texts, curated by the author... himself, narrate events in the political, public, and cultural life of the country, imbued with the humor and relentless skepticism characteristic of Umberto Eco towards the eternal shortcomings of daily life in his homeland. Although these essays were written and published in leading Italian periodicals in the late 1960s - early 1970s, they have not lost their relevance even today, and in many of them, Eco anticipated events of our times.
