Pelevin is as original as ever — not only in his creativity but also in how he presents it to the reader: the content of the book mirrors the chronology of events that occurred... in Russia at the turn of the 20th and 21st centuries. We have distanced ourselves enough from the nineties to see them without the effect of "not seeing the face to face face."
Relics is a nostalgic reminiscence of the time of raspberry jackets in the harsh era of orange ties. The book is structured in such a way that its content roughly corresponds to the chronology of events: how we got there, for this purpose several very early stories are included, what we got into, and where we went after that...
