Today the names of Nikolai Gumilev, Anna Akhmatova, and Osip Mandelstam ring out like separate, independent strikes on a bell — each of these poets influenced poetic speech so profoundly that we still feel it today... The collection includes poems by the Acmeists, once united by the "Guild of Poets."
