Ernest Hemingway (1899–1961) is a famous American writer, laureate of the Pulitzer and Nobel Prizes, author of such books as "A Farewell to Arms", "The Old Man and the Sea", "For Whom the Bell Tolls", and many others. Hemingway's first... novel "Fiesta" ("And the Sun Rises"), which brought the author wide fame (in 1983, the newspaper "The New York Times" reported that the novel has been continuously in print since its publication and is one of the most translated American novels), is based on real events. The characters of the novel (belonging to the so-called lost generation), who returned from World War I, seek to escape from painful memories and forget themselves in the easy Parisian life. They experience a constant thirst for new experiences and a hunger for heartfelt human communication. They can only feel renewed and fully alive in those rare minutes that selfless love and friendship grant them.
