Edogawa Rampo is one of the founders of Japanese detective fiction. The writer's real name is Hirai Taro. In his youth, he was fond of the detective stories of Edgar Allan Poe, so he decided to take a pseudonym that... sounds similar to his idol's name – Edogawa Rampo.
