Demons

"Demons" is considered the most prophetic work of F.M. Dostoevsky. Intended as an anti-nihilist pamphlet based on the author's impressions of the "Nechaev trial," the novel transformed into a dark and gripping tragedy about a world that has lost harmony... and meaning. The once peaceful life of a provincial town changes with the arrival of the demonic handsome man Nikolai Stavrogin and the son of a private tutor, who leads a group of rebel nihilists, Petrusha Verkhovensky. Strange, inexplicable, and frightening events begin to unfold: scandals, fires, political intrigues, murders. The quiet town seems to turn into a dwelling of demonic forces, within whose frenzied whirlings the ghost of a future revolution distinctly flickers.
