Indian and Eastern Weapons. From the Maurya Empire to the Empire of the Great Mughals

The book by Lord Egerton, written in the 19th century, remains the most complete and detailed description of Eastern and Indian weaponry. It is complemented by excellent illustrations and a catalog. The section dedicated to the artistic design and manufacture of weapons is one of the most important parts of the book, as it provides a brief but concise description of the technical techniques used throughout India. Egerton also discusses the weapons of Persia, Afghanistan, and China. The author's classification is based on an ethnological principle; thus, one can visually trace the evolution of art and civilization through the evolution of weaponry.
