Decisive Wars in History. The Development of Military Art from Battles in Ancient Greece to World War I

English military historian and theorist Captain Basil Henry Liddell-Hart, while serving as editor of the "Encyclopaedia Britannica" and involuntarily delving into various periods of military history, concluded that decisive outcomes in any campaign were only achieved when the actions of the commanders were contrary to the expectations of the enemy, what he called "indirect," as he referred to them. His strategy of "the long way around," the search for the correct military doctrine is explored in this book through the example of wars that significantly influenced the development of world history.
