Suzume is an ordinary, unremarkable seventeen-year-old high school student. She used to love singing, but after an accident, she loses that ability. One day, her close friend Hiro invites her to join the virtual world "U," saying that there Suzume will find her second "self" and be able to sing again. In the world of "U," she becomes a globally famous singer named Belle and soon encounters a mysterious monster—a dragon with a scar on its back. The wild dragon is not well-liked in this world, but Belle discovers that deep down, he is very lonely.
