Siddhartha

"Siddhartha" is a gem of prose by Hermann Hesse, in the pages of which the writer's journeys through India and his interest in Eastern religions are reflected. The setting is India during the time of Siddhartha Gautama, the founder of one of humanity's most profound and wise religions — Buddhism. In this small book, Hesse managed to explain its essence to Europeans, creating an ideal system — a set of interrelated rules: how to live, how to correct one's mistakes, how to find one's true "self".
