Angels of Vengeance. Women Snipers of the Great Patriotic War

The sniper movement in the Red Army began in the most desperate days of the war, in the autumn of 1941 on the Leningrad front. In 1943, the first female sniper platoons appeared in the active army. Many of the 'angels of vengeance' had dozens of enemy kills to their credit. Not all of these girls lived to see the end of the war. Those who were lucky returned, still very young, to the lives of ordinary Soviet women. Yet, the main event of their lives was the Great Patriotic War.
The author of the book, Lyubov Vinogradova, worked in archives, studied memoirs of eyewitnesses, and met with participants of the events and their families. The result of this painstaking work is a unique historical-documentary study about the contribution of female snipers to the victory in the Great Patriotic War.
