Elizabeth I

This is the story of two women endowed with brilliant minds and driven by fierce desires. One tries to protect her country and throne, the other seeks to restore her family's power and status. Elizabeth Tudor is a controversial and captivating virgin queen, surrounded by passionate admirers; the victor of the Spanish Armada, who hated war; a monarch adorned with jewels, yet with not a penny to her name. Letitia Nollis is the fiery red-haired niece of the queen, resembling her like two drops of water, only younger, her rival in love for Robert Dudley, mother of the Earl of Essex, who challenged the throne. Everyone close to Elizabeth is drawn into the dramatic confrontation, from famous nobles who enriched the crown to legendary poets and playwrights. The portraits of the figures who made the Elizabethan era great — Shakespeare, Marlowe, Dudley, Raleigh, Drake — provide an unforgettable insight into the queen who ruled with both mind and heart.
