Daughter of Moonlight

Sixteen-year-old Jesse Sasser lives in Wilkes County, North Carolina, which has long been famous for the production and sale of moonshine. "Moonshine" is what this drink is called because it has to be distilled on moonlit nights, hiding from government... agents. Jesse's mother died in an explosion of a still, which is why the girl despises and hates her father, for whom the "family business" seems to be more important than anything else in the world. The romance of secret paths, cunning ways to evade capture, easy money — all of this is completely alien to her. But when disaster strikes her father, Jesse is forced to rethink her life principles. And only then does a terrible family secret, which has been hidden from her for so long, unfold before her.
