Through the icy chain of centuries, the Earth whispers the story of an ancient civilization. The Celts and their priest-druids. Were they the chosen intermediaries between the gods and humans? Or were they merely magicians who used knowledge for both good and evil? This book is a brief history of those druids who never lost their connection with the Earth, and thanks to whom the Celts retained hope of not disappearing from its face but remaining a strong and mighty tribe living upon it.
The druids Odhan, Trevor, and Adair are not just priests, but those who, challenging the gods themselves, strive to awaken in their tribesmen the ancient memory of brotherhood with the Earth. They are not alone in their desire to help people. Beside them is the sorceress Eshling, the warrior chief Malo, Ula — the eldest of the aguane and the mother of the chief Atti-halfblood, as Lug, the chief priest of the tribe and sworn enemy of Trevor, calls him.
Even among the gods, there is no agreement. Morrigan herself (the goddess of war) stands up in defense of Trevor.
How will this duel between mortals and gods end? Will the druids and their allies succeed in awakening their tribesmen? Will people be able to return to friendship with the Earth? Only by hearing its voice will they remain living upon it as a strong tribe, rather than just a quiet memory in the Earth’s mind.
