Switzerland, 1872. Every time, accompanying her father during the transportation of goods across the dangerous Gotthard Pass, Helena dreams of joining the family business, although her mother Anna looks sideways at her daughter's participation in such trips. But with the... beginning of the construction of the Gotthard railway tunnel, the peaceful life of the family comes to an end, as more and more Italian workers arrive in the rapidly growing village.
