Brothers and Sisters. Tetralogy

Fedor Abramov (1920–1983) was born into a peasant family in the village of Vyorkola in the Arkhangelsk region. "In the late winter of 1942, I was taken out of besieged Leningrad, badly wounded as a frontline soldier, to the mainland,"... Abramov recalled. "After long wanderings through hospitals, I finally found myself back in my homeland — in the remote forests of the Arkhangelsk region… I saw much human sorrow and suffering that summer. But even more — courage, endurance, and the Russian soul's generosity…" Based on what he witnessed, "Brothers and Sisters" was born, Fedor Abramov's debut novel. The book was published in the journal 'Neva' in 1958 and immediately won the love of readers, and later received continuations in the novels 'Two Winters and Three Summers', 'Paths-Crossroads', 'The House'.
